OUR CHURCH WANTS TO EMPLOY A YOUTH PASTOR

WHAT SHOULD WE DO???????

Start by praying for God to show what you need in a Youth / Children's Pastor
Get hold of other Churches (with YP's / CP's) and Youth / Children's Pastors in the area and find out what is expected of Youth Pastors and what Youth Pastors Expect.
Decide what you as a church feel will be fair to expect from a Youth / Children's Pastor (Remember that a Pastor has a pastoring role and is not just a glorified Youth / Sunday School / Confirmation Leader
Work out what you as a Church can afford in terms of Salary
Remember that it is also important to support your pastor with training as well

YOUTH PASTORS BASH - Also for Children's & Young Adults Pastors, is essential to the Spiritual, Physical & Emotional replenishment of Pastors - It is also great for Networking

Advertise at your church, other churches in your area, various Christian newsletters and magazines (The Methodist Church has a newspaper called "The New Dimension". Another place to advertise is through the YMSA distribution list - send emails to craig@methchurch.org.za for sending out.

When interviewing, Try to keep a balance in the interviewing committee between the Adult & Youth Leaders - You need the experience of the adults as well as the vibrancy of the Youth - Most of the funding for this pastor will be the responsibility of the older members of your congregation while if the young people of the church don't accept the new pastor, there will be lots of heartache.
